Another Ally

"Mina! You awake? Come on!" Shaking the bed next to her,Abbey tries to roll out of the covers. Loud snoring bounced off the walls,keeping her up.Waving her hands,she punches the bed. Damn that girl sleeps like a rock...and snores like a bitch! Jeesus! It woke me up! All I wanna do is check on our room,just snoop around.Sheesh,this girl is SUCH a party pooper! Getting up,she glances over to Mina's bed. "Hey!" Not there...Where did she go?

Running through the OZ base,Mina searches for the controll room.Gun shots and yelling came from behind her.It was getting closer,giving her that extra excitement.She ducked into an open door just seconds before the soldiers turnes the corner.

Two?Nope,sorry fellas.Just little old me!Wow!They are beginning to give someone else credit! Well that's just the way it is.I wouldn't like to admit I was defeated by a girl either.If I were a big macho soldier...What losers!! She hits her elbow on a door handle and turns around. "This must be it!"Mina kicks open the door and cautiously walks in. Pausing for a second,she sees a boy fiddling with the controls. "What the hell?!"

A loud crash is heard as Quatre plants the bomb.Sighing to himself,he turns around and jumps back in shock. A girl? Here?!Is she the other terrorist? Staring at her for a while,he grins. "Hey! I take it you're the other-" Mina shoves him to the side,cutting his weclome short.She sets the bomb and looks back at Quatre. "Move out! We'd better get outta here NOW!" Quatre nods and leaves the room behind her.

Ok,let's see.Quick escape or flachy escape? So hard to choose.Well just to show this kid I'm for real,we'll go for the flashy escape...out the window! This is going to be fun!! Mina denotates the bomb and the explosion's force throws them out the window.Free-falling for a few seconds,Mina pulls out a gun and fires at the soldiers below.She pushes off the building,grabs Quatre and lands in a tree.

This girl enjoys this WAY too much.That whold free-falling thing just about gave me a heart attack.Who is this girl?Quatre stands on a branch and dusts himseld off.Looking around,he notices the girl has dissappeared.Sighing to himself,he gets down and walks to his camoflaged Gundam. Well THAT was weird...

"Any body want Lucky Charms?" Sitting at a table,Abbey,Heero and Duo begin to eat breakfast."Hey! Do you know all of the magical shapes? I DO!" Smiling,Abbey pours just about the whole box into a bowl,drowning them in milk.Heero and Duo stare blankly at the over-excited girl. "Horse shoes,clovers,heartsstars...and...and...-" The door opens and Mina walks in.Some of the hair in her braid was falling out and her clothes were slightly burned. "A-and blue moons..." She walked over to the table and plopped down in the seat next to Duo.

"Mina? What happened to you?" Leaning across the table Abbey flicks Mina,right between the eyes."You look dead tired.You usually would'nt let me do that,so somehting's gotta be wrong with you..."Leaning back in her chair,she continues picking out all of the marshmellows and eats them.

"Heero sat next to Abbey.holding a plate of waffles.Duo grabs Mina's plate,slaps on two waffles,and covers them with strawberry glaze.Stuffing them in his face,he begins talking. "Mum...Mina! There's no school today!" Mina tapped on his shoulder and pointed to the floor. "Look at THAT! Did you see that? How COOL!!!"As soon as he looked the other way,Mina grabed his plate and started eating.Heh...I am SO good.What a gullable kid...

"What? What am I looking at? Hello-"Realiving that Abbey and Heero were laughing hysterically,he turned around and growled. "You little BRAT! You think you're so clever....and you're NOT!" Duo threw his hands in the air and started yelling. "Hey! That's MY food! You greedy little-" The phone rang inthe other room.Still laughing,Heero slowly got up and answered it. "Hello..." Duo jumped up and went into the room,closing the door behind him.

The low monotone of thier conversation attracted Abbey."I'm going to listen,what about you?"She stood up and walked over to the door,pressing her ear up to it.Turinig around,Mina finishes off Duo's breakfast.Sighing,she walks up the the door and listens along with Abbey. "We're SO going to get caught..."

Heero sets the phone back on the reciever and looks out the window. "Call me crazy,but I think we've got another terrorist on our hands." Turning around,he galnces at Duo. "Give it a shot...Take a guess who it is..." Duo scratches his head and looks back at the closed door. "No way...One of THOSE girls?!I bet I know which one.Um first I have something to tell you.That girl,the one with the braid...I saw her in the colonies the day before yesterday.She was having a little trouble with some soldiers,so I helped her out.She ended up wasting all of them and saving my life.I didn't want to tell you this,because you'd automatically think she's a threat,and she isint," Duo walked to the door and stood there. "So when you talk to her...do it nicely."

A muffled yell and a loud bang came from the other side of the door.Heero rushed to it and walked out. "If you even do so as breathe a word of this,I'll kill you.Mark my words." Mina was holding Abbey against a wall,squeesing her fingers around her neck.Abbey's eyes widend at the sight of Heero and Duo in the doorway. "Um...help!" Mina looked back at them and dropped her to the floor. "So I take it you guys know..." She walks over to them,her braid swinging back and fourth,like a cat's tail. "I went out for a walk-yeah a walk after you guys went to sleep.I got lost and fell asleep in the courtyard.She was making fun of me and THAT'S why I did that,in case you were wondering.Right,Abbey?" She better say right or so help me,I'll kill her.I can't have anybody knowing about what I do.I hope she understands that I don't really want to kill her...

Abbey stands up and brushes her self off and stares at Mina. "Yeah...right." I think she has something to tell me...This sure is weird. She walks past Mina and whispers. "Please tell me about this later,you can trust me.I will help..." Looking back at all of them she opens the door and walks into the hall. "I'm going to go check out our room,see ya later Mina!" The door closes behind her and Heero stands in front of it. "Mina.Duo and I have a couple questions..." Mina takes a seat at the table and sighs. I knew this was comming...what now? "Well,what is it?" Duo crossed his arms in front of him and leaned on the door. "Mina-we want to know what you really did last night after we went to sleep...We know you didn't really fall asleep in the court yard,now tell us the truth..." Heero pulls out a gun and points directly at Mina. "Yeah...tell us who sent you and why you're here..."

Mina calmly stands up and walks to Heero. She pulled out the rubber band that held her braid and let her hair fall around her.The closer she got to him,the darker her eyes turned. "I hate to ruin you're little game,but I'm here for no reason.No one sent me and I came to this school to receive a decent education.Don't try to pull that "serious" thing,you don't scare me in the slightest. If you guys aren't going to protect me,than stay outta my life!If you are....I'm warning you now,I'm not that easy to control." She kicked the gun out of Heero's hands and watched it land on the floor.Heero dives for it leaving the door unguarded. "And one more thing,you shouldn't EVER point a gun at a lady." Opening the door she walks out into the hall. "I'm going with her...Tell me later on if you're going to help me.” The halls were swarming with kids that were going to the cafeteria, library, bath house and to other rooms. Music filled one section of the hall,as Minna and Abbey walked by the open door. They stood there, listening to the beautiful music. Taking a step back,Minna dragged Abbey into the door way. “Wow! What class is this?”

“This is Concert Band!” Abbey and Mina looked up and stared blankly at the girl. “Welcome! Are you that new girl? I heard you went to the musical academy up in the colonies. Wow, you must be pretty good!” Smiling,she pressed her glasses up to the back to her nose. The room was filled with kids,holding their instruments and smiling. “Would you care to join us? Oh! I totally forgot, how rude of me! I’m Amy- it’s a pleasure to meet you…”

Nodding,Mina turned and looked at Abbey. “Do you know if the soldiers hurt my Clairinet?” Abbey shrugs and takes Mina’s arm. “Come on,let’s go find out! Let’s run!” Giggling, the two girls bolted down the hall. They dodge kids and make their way to their hall. Looking over to Abbey,Minna yells: “Is this a race?” She picks up speed and moves ahead, her long hair trailing after her. Wow,this is fun…

“Watch out!” A head on collision left Duo and Mina sprawled out on the floor. He jumps up and pulls Mina off of the floor,dusting her off. In a rush, she pushes away from him and turns quickly around. “I DON’T need your help, thank you very much!!” He stands there for a sceond, and turns his back to her. “Sheesh! Hey! I’ve just had a bad case of “De-ja-vu” does: “Hey watch where you’re going!” sound familiar?” The two stand there back to back rolling their eyes and muttering.

“Oh! Mina,you’re in trouble,huh?” Pushing through the croud,Abbey dashes by Mina and grabs a hold of her long hair. The force of the pull sends Mina soaring after her. The two continue to run away and Mina shouts back: “You can’t catch us! You’re too slow…NYAH!” and zig-zags down the hall.

“Hey! No fair!” Turning around eh ran after them. He pushes past the kids and makes it back to his room, where Heero is standing. “Come on,Come on, COME ON! IT’S A RACE!!!” He turns Heero around and shoves him ahead. Heero smiles slightly and points to the next turn. “I’ll cut Abbey off, you get Mina!” The two boys run amuck in the halls.

Turning the corner,Mina ad Abbey come face to face with Heero. They begin to back away,smiling. “Um,Abbs…Head the OTHER WAY!” The girls run away,yelling and giggling down the hall. “Not so fast!” Standing in front of them,Duo grins and puts his hands on his hips. “I’ts all over now…we win!”

Mina and Abbey stop in their tracks and look at eachother. “Just wait,Abbey…hold on.When I wink run like hell…” Whispering,Mina ties up her braid. “You take Heero and I’ll take Braid-boy. We’ll meet at the stairs…” She winks and the two duck into the croud. “What? Where did they go?” Looking around, Duo scratches his head. Mina runs at him and stops,grinning. “You lose,Mina! Admit it!” She growls to her self ,dashes at him and dove to the floor. Sliding out of his reach,she pulls his braid, knocking him on his butt. “I’ts far from over!” Getting back up she bolts for the stairs. Almost there…

Abbey was already sitting at the foot of the stairs, sighing to herself she plays with her hair. "It took you long enough…It wasn't easy to lose Heero, something must have distracted him. Breathing heavily, Mina kneels on the floor and smiles. "Oh shut up! You didn't even have as much fun as I did escaping from Duo. How long were you waiting here?" Mina stands up and walks up the stairs. Heero, distracted? It- oh no! the mission! I forgot the mission! Damnit! I'm really going to fail now… Abbey stares right ahead and mutters: "Um, Mina…The room-It's back to normal. Everything is okay. I don't know what happened…"

The intercom blasted through the halls: "Mina Andrews and Abbey Hudson to the dean's office." Mina looks back at Abbey and continues walking to the room. "They can wait, I want to talk to you now." Abbey jumps up and looks around. Oh great! This is all I need. I really didn't want an adventure, what do I do now?! The halls were still packed with kids laughing and talking. "Abbey!" She slowly turned around and noticed Heero. "Where's Mina? What's wrong?" She turned around and ran up to the room. If she wants to talk to me, than I'll let her…I want to help.I have to get away from Heero! Why do I keep running from him?

Mina was staring out the window thinking when she heard the door creak. "Abbey- sit down." She continued staring out the window so she didn't have to give her eye contact. "I want to tell you all about me before you get too caught up. I'm here on a mission, to find and help the gundam pilots. I know why our room was ruined last night, there's someone here that works for OZ. I didn't think you'd get hurt, I want to tell you I'm sorry for bringing you into this…" Mina stood up and walked over to Abbey. She reached for her gun and was abruptly stoped by Abbey's hand. Standing there in confusion, Mina shuddered, trying to say something- anything to keep her mind straight. She stuttered: "W-what are y-you doing?" Her mind was so clouded with thoughts she couldn't even think.

"I want you to know, I'll help you." Abbey's sadness was obvious and she didn't want to hide it. "I want to help you because…" Her eyes burned with tears as she was trying to talk, her hand still on Mina's. ""Because…I don't want them to win this war." She collapsed, crying in Mina's arms. "My parents were killed trying to fight for peace. I've been here at Mizu-iwa with my brother.I want you to know I'll be there for you.I'll help,I promise. Please don't kill me…" Staring down at the girl in her arms, Mina fought for the right word to say. What? What is going on? She wants to help me? I don't know… "Abbey- I don't know if you can help me…" Wiping her eyes, Abbey looked up to Mina. Her blue eyes made contact with Mina's maroon eyes and they sat staring at eachother for the longest time. I can't let this happen…She shouldn't have to suffer along with me. But she seems to calm me… "Fine. You can help me. Just don't go getting your self killed, ok?" She got up and walked to the door. "You better have some fighting expirence, cause you'll need it." She opens the door and walks out not even looking back at her. Too close…I have to get away from her for a while…

Abbey sat there in the room staring at the door. She wiped her tears away and sighed. She keeps running away from me…It's just too hard to get through to her. The room was filled with the bright sunlight and her plants were blowing a little with the wind. Curling up in a ball on the bed she slowly drifted off to sleep.

The sun shone brightly off the roof top of Mizu-iwa high school. Kids were running around in the court yard , yelling and laughing. Duo, Heero, and Quatre were sitting on the hillside over looking the lake. “It sure is a nice day today...lets go swimming!” Duo was stretched out on the tall grass, looking up at the clouds, his black hat setting next to him. “Well...” Quatre picks up his hat and pretends to throw it. “I do recall the school rules- no hats on campus, remember?” He looked up to the blue sky and smiled. “You’re right...it is a nice day!”

With a grin, Duo frowns and closes his eyes. He throws out his hand and looks the other way. “I’m warning you Quatre, you’d better give me back my hat or you’ll end up ROLLING down this stupid hill!” With the loudest battle yell, Duo dove at Quatre dragging him down in the grass. The two pilots wrestle and swear at each other while Heero stares out onto the lake. Those two bakas only care about playing around. They can’t even go anywhere without acting like a bunch of little kids. This place really isin’t what I expected. Kinda hard to believe this school is surrounded with OZ bases. Speaking about bases, there’s a mission tonight. The arguing boys came to a stop just as Heero let out a mild sigh. Still holding onto Duo’s hat the two sat in confusion. “What the hell kind of sigh was that?!” Duo pulled his hat out of Quatre’s grasp and placed in on his head. “Now why in the heck did you call us out here? I’m a real busy person, so could we get this-“

Heero quickly tugged on Duo’s braid, making him rub the back of his head. Silence, for once! He just won’t shut up... “You guys can do what ever the hell you want, remember we have a really big mission tonight. If you see the girl, you know what to do...” He let go of Duo’s braid and coldly muttered. “You can leave now...” In that instant, Duo and Quatre ran back up to the school, chattering about their plans for the day. Figures. Those two are so stupid and childish...Well it’s about time I can get some peace and quiet... Heero tilts up against the cherry blossom tree, knocking a few of the delicate little flowers off of the branches. He closes his eyes and prepares for a long awaited nap.

The group of kids from the near-by dock walked over to Heero. The short, blonde haired leader of the group tapped on his head. “I’m Alicia, the president of the Mizu-iwa Jet ski club! We’re having our try outs soon, would you like to join?!” Heero looked up at her and shook his head “No...” and got up and walked away. Alicia balled up her fists and stomped her foot. “What a jerk!!” She looked at her friends with a competitive grin. “Ashley, Terri, we’re going to get new members...Don’t give up!!” With a wink, she heads in the other direction, hauling the two school girls behind her. “To the CHALLENGE!!”

Mina pushed open the doors and stepped into the sunlight. Closing her eyes for a brief moment as the cool spring breeze went through her hair. Ah, now THIS is more like it...I need to gather my self and get ready to make a how should I say this audacious overture! I really mean a awesome ass entrance! There’s no way I’m lettin those guys show me up! She continued walking through the court yard down to the dock. Quatre was sitting on the edge, his feet dangling in the water. “What’s going on here, some kind of a race?” She sat down next to him, her feet not even grazing the surface of the lake.

“Oh! You startled me!!” Quatre looked at the mischievous girl and smiled. “Well in a couple of days the Mizu-iwa school festival is going to start. All of the club presidents are trying to recruit new members so their display wins. It’s the biggest competition in the whole year.” He pointed at the lined jet-skis in front of them and continued talking. “Try-outs for this club start in a couple-“

“HEY!!” Nearly falling over with excitement, Mina winked and jumped up. “I say we take these cool little things for a ride, eh?” She stood up and started jumping up and down, letting out little high pitched giggles. Her goggles slid down her forehead and landed on her nose, leaving her cross-eyed. “Oh...”

Quatre sat there in an odd sense of wonder as she fixed her hair. She was smiling, her eyes closed. She’ll probably knock me out if she realizes I’m staring at her like this. But it’s kinda hard not to find her horribly cute. He let out a sigh and pulled his goggles down over his eyes. He had to get his mind straight, so he shook all of the thoughts out of his head. (Well most of them.) Smiling, he walked over to her, still fiddling with her hair. “Mina-ko, are we really going to do this?! W-what if we get into trouble?”

She paused and looked at him with a slight sense of caution. She growled. “Trouble- schrouble! I laugh in the face er- whatever of trouble! Don’t be such a wuss! Be-sides, you’re with ME, so... Just don’t worry about it!!” She dropped her un-finished braid and reached for Quatre’s arm. “Let’s go!” The two dove in the water paddling in place just as Doris walks to the pier. “Just what in the name of sweet aunt Jemima do you think you’re doing?!” She tromped angrily to the end of the dock. “Well?!”

“For your information Miss Braid, or whatever your name may be, maybe I wasn’t talking to you, and maybe it does concern me if, if uh, well maybe it just does! Did that ever cross your mind? Did it? Oh I guess it didn’t ‘cause you don’t got one! Ha ha ha.” In light of her “victory” Doris started to do her “happy dance”, which consisted of self-righteous appraisal and the wiggling of her butt.

“Oh, Doris I’m sorry, I totally spaced our tutoring session today. I, uh got a little distracted.” Quatre blushed a little as he nodded towards Mina. “Let me get my books and you can help me with my trig.” Quatre started out of the water, but was stopped short by a strong grasp on his arm. Mina returned Doris’s sharp glare.

“If you don’t mind Miss Trig, or whatever your name may be, I’m sure that you’ve heard the old saying all work and no play makes Quatre a dull boy, so I’ll just take him for a little spin, and then you can do whatever it is that you do in those books of yours.” Doris stood dumbfounded as she watched Miss Braid and Quatre go off together.

“Shut-up Quatre.” Mina thrust her arm out instinctively, hitting Quatre, sending him off his jet-ski and into the water. “Oh my God! Are you okay? I’m he he sor. . .ha ha sorr. . .” But Mina couldn’t finish the sentence, she was laughing too hard.

“Bet ya can’t catch me!” Quatre smiled and began the chase. By now, Mina had a huge head start, and was making full use of it. She rode along the shore and scooped up some rocks, then she spotted the perfect hiding place, six foot high reeds. She could hear Quatre coming closer. Mina quickly hid in the reeds and began throwing the rocks in the opposite direction of herself.

“I know you’re out here! I’m going to find you! Come out come out wherever you are! It’s no use trying to hide!” Spotting the ripples made by the rocks Mina threw, Quatre smiles and chases her in that direction. Grinning at Quatre’s predictability Mina did her own happy dance mimicking Doris. She was cut short when she heard a voice. Startled, she looked around to see who it was. If that’s Doris spying on me, all hell is going to break loose in her general vicinity. Mina couldn’t see who was talking but immediately deduced that it wasn’t Doris. As stealthily as she could, she sneaked closer to hear better.

“Now LISTEN! I’m only going over this ONE MORE TIME! My father, Commander Bell the greatest soldier there ever was and will be, is trying to gain control of a certain colony for OZ purposes. We are to go to the south Mizu-iwa base tonight, and pick up our mission kay?”

“So much for a night out on the town. OH WELL! This will be even better!” She left the shelter of the reeds and called Quatre’s name. “Come on, let’s go, I just remembered Abbey and I are doing something tonight, and I wouldn’t want Doris getting any huffier than she already is, I did promise her to have you back in one piece anyway.” As they were pulling up to the dock they saw Doris sitting there playing with some grass.

“Well it was nice meeting you Mina and I hope that we can get to know each other better.” Doris gave Mina a happy smile. “Come on Quatre, I don’t have all day.” Mina watched Doris and Quatre walk away. Strange girl, but I think I could get to like her. DUH! What are you doing?! You gonna sit here or are we going to do some mass destruction at the South Mizu-iwa Base?

“Actually NO I don’t...” What is it about the girls in this school that makes them so dang...GIRLY?! This is getting to be too much. I hope I don’t turn out like any of these “boy-crazy” girls...But Duo is a cutie- She automatically shook the idea out of her head and pointed to the closet. “My mass destruction tools are over yonder, get to it, we haven’t much time.” Boy, hanging around these people has me talking all weird...YONDER?! What kind of butt-kicking terrorist uses yonder?! How weird... Abbey hopped to the closet and opened the doors, letting out a clamorous arrangement of giggles and “Oh hell yes’s” as she scanned the many armaments in Mina’s grasp. “W-Woah...I get to use these?! Too cool...” Mina glanced at her watch and shook Abbey out of her trance. “Um, hey... Let’s boogie. Um wait that didn’t sound “Good” enough...how would Duo or Heero say it? “Um...damnit, let’s just go!!! To the destruction mobile!” Wait... I don’t even have my licence. I’m only..14. Damn. Guess we’d better walk. Staring at the disgruntled girl, Abbey decided to sit down on the floor, weapons in hand. “Um you don’t really HAVE a car do you?”

The two rush to the door only to be stopped by the locked door. Mina clumsily fumbles with the lock and Abbey blurts out: “Um, yeah. We’re carrying weapons and we’re planning on walking through the school? I take it you’ve been thinking a little too much about our forward little Duo...”

She’s kinda right...NO WAY!!! “Abbey put the weapon where your mouth is and keep quiet! I thought about that, so don’t start...” She looks at the nearby window and grins at Abbey. “You wanna learn how to fly?” Just as Abbey let out an answer Mina grabs her and chucks her out the window. “Don’t worry, I have it all under control!” She soon follows her and pulls out her trusty grappling hook. It lands them right smack dab in the middle of the school rose bushes, with Abbey’s face just inches away from the ground. “Never again....Mina.” The two run off to the dock and hop into the jet-skis. Five of them were already missing which left the two fastest ones behind. Good enough for me... They both ride off to their first mission together.
