South Mizu-iwa base
Abbey and Mina arrived at the South Mizu-iwa Base about an hour later. Making sure they’re jet-skis were out of sight, but accessible in case they were in need of a quick getaway. They snuck up to the main gate. “Three guards out here, probably a lot more where they came from. Just then, they heard a rustling in the bushes. Mina motioned to Abbey to get down and stay close. Mina crept up on it silently, waiting for anything to break the tension that lay heavy in the air. With stunning speed Mina snapped her arm into the bushes and yoinked out what was hiding in there. Lo and behold, who else could it be but Duo. “Hey! What are you doing here?”
“I could ask you the same question Mina, but I’d rather ask, WHAT THE HELL DID YOU DO THAT FOR?! It really hurt!” Duo sat up rubbing his head. “It’s okay Heero, it’s just Mina and Abbey.”
“Just Mina and Abbey?! JUST?! JUST?! JUST!? Let me tell you something Duo, never does it come to ‘just’ when me and Mina are together doing mass destruction.” Abbey stuck her tongue out at Duo who was sitting there trying not to laugh at her. Heero had come out of hiding and was standing over Duo.
“What did I tell you? You could have endangered the mission. Lucky for us it was only. . .” He stopped short recalling Abbey’s fit just a moment ago. “Listen, the point is, can I trust you to go all the way and not get me and you killed.”
“Oh lighten up! I knew it was them all along, yeah, so can we just forget about the whole thing and get on with our lives?” Once again an advance was made on the main gate, but this time Sean popped out of nowhere right in front of them.
“Oh my God!! What the hell are you doing here!! You scared the shit out of me! You’re likely to get yourself killed! OH MY GOD!!!” Sean’s smile quickly faded and he hunched over a bit more with every piercing word that came out of Mina’s mouth. “Sean, leave now because I wouldn’t want to be responsible for your death or anything.” Sean nodded his head, he obviously didn’t understand what was going on, but didn’t want to inquire for fear of invoking more of Mina’s wrath. “Okay, is that all for the interruptions? Or do we have a couple more left to go?!” Heero slapped his hand over Mina’s mouth and listened. What could have been the beginning of a smile appeared on his face.
“Quatre’s here.”
“How can you tell?” Quatre came up from behind whistling. “Oh, okay never mind.”
“Hey, I hope the mission didn’t start without me.”
“It would start if we would stop having all these damned interruptions! I anyone else wants to interrupt please do it now or forever be in pieces!” Once again, they advanced towards the main gate every one stopped cold in their tracks the moment they heard another pair of footsteps coming up behind them. “Whoever that is, I swear I’ll kill them. I tend to get a little edgy when I don’t get my daily dose of mass destruction.”
“Quatre! I finally caught up with you. Oh hi MinaaaaAAAHHHHHHH!” Mina was holding a gun point blank at Doris’s face.
“Now Doris, I know this isn’t the best way to win you over,” Mina said through clenched teeth. “but, you are here and you should not be here, and you are also postponing mass destruction, that’s a bad thing. Do you understand?” Doris stared blankly at the gun’s barrel silent. “DO YOU UNDERSTAND?!”
“Yes, I understand. I just saw a group of people and thought there might be something going on here plus one of them looked like Quatre, so of course I’m going to follow. Oh by the way I thought you might like these back Quatre.” Doris opened her pocket and took out Quatre’s goggles and handed them to him. “For Pete’s sake get that thing out of my face!” She slapped away the gun in Mina’s hand. Mina’s face turned that shade of red it turns when she gets truly annoyed. “B-bitch.” Doris gasped as she knelt on her knees clenching her stomach.
“Mina! I can’t believe you just kicked her!” Quatre helped Doris to her feet.
“Well in my book she deserved it.”
“Well Heero, your book hasn’t always been known to be right.” Duo stepped away from Heero to dodge any anger that might slip out.
“I wanna blow something up! These weapons are getting heavy. Can we please go now?” Abbey shifted her weight to accommodate the slipping arsenal.
“What are we going to do with the girl, can’t just leave her here like this?”
“My name is Doris and I’m NOT getting left anywhere. You’re taking me with you.”
“We don’t have time to argue about this, Quatre, take her home.” Mina said as she remembered she had dropped her gun after Doris slapped it away. She bent down to pick it up.
“I’m coming or I scream and let those guards over there know what you’re up to out here, and then no one will be going anywhere.” Mina had the gun in her hand, but didn’t get up. Instead she stared intently at Doris. I could just kill her now and there wouldn’t be any trouble. But, the sound would probably do the same thing as Doris screaming. Besides, she could be fun.
“OH whatever! Just bring her Quatre! But when things start getting rough I don’t want to be the one to save her ass, I’m going to be busy as it is with Abbey’s ass, so you look out for her GOT IT?”
“Hey! I can take care of my own ass thank you very much!”
“Abbey, Abbey, Abbey. . .Do you want to sit here forever talking about whether or not you can protect your own ass, or do you want to blow something up? Now CAN WE PLEASE GET ON WITH THE GOD DAMN MISSION!” The group snuck around back to a side entrance to avoid being seen by any more people. Heero peeked in first to see if the coast was clear. He motioned for the rest to follow him and finally, they were in the base. Heero pointed at Mina and Abbey then down a corridor. Mina nodded and grabbed Abbey as she went down the corridor that Heero pointed to. Then Heero pointed to Quatre and Doris and motioned for them to stay at the door. Duo and Heero left down another corridor.
As soon as Mina and Abbey turned the corner, they were greeted by three OZ soldiers. Abbey waved “hi” and Mina tripped the closest guard, leaving him on his stomach. "Get that little girl!" The other two ran at her, the tallest one recieved a kick in the face and one single solitary bullet in the back. She took a step back and tripped on the guy she knocked down. Abbey did a flying kick which was dodged by the soldier. She landed behind him and elbowed him in the ribs, sending him forward onto Mina. A loud gunshot rang out and the soldier landed on Mina with a big hole in his chest. Mina shoved him off, covered in his blood. "Remind me never to do that ever again, It'll mess up my hair." With a smirk she began applauding Abbey. " Nice work if I do say so me self, I say we need to train more often, you need to clean up your double-team technique..." With that, they went on, laying bombs as they ran down the hall. They made their way through the hall to an end room. Mina kicked the door down and she and Abbey jumped in with their guns in hand and in firing position. Two soldiers, two civilians, and a higher ranking soldier sat in the room shocked at this unexpected intrusion. “What is the meaning of this?!” The higher ranking soldier bellowed. Mina scowled at him OZ scum, doesn’t deserve to live, but it wouldn’t be right to just shoot him like this. . .would it?
“Listen up ‘cause I’m only going to say this once, I’m not interested in the two civilians, they can leave. But you three are going to be having some trouble.” One of the soldiers lunged at Mina so she leaned a little to the right and the officer ran straight into the wall behind her. “Now, I don’t really want to hurt anyone else, well maybe a little, but I would like to get you civilians out of here ‘cause this place is gonna blow.” Then the second soldier feinted from sheer terror, and the two civilians started to walk slowly past Mina.
“Thank you.” The female one said as she passed by. That voice, where have I heard it before? It sounds so familiar, yet I can’t seem to place it. Mina’s thoughts were interrupted when she noticed that the high ranking officer was trying to make a break for it as well.
“Not so fast, unless you want me to put a hole through each of your legs.” He stopped, and stood motionless. “I suggest. . .”
“FOR OZ!!” The man pulled out a vile from his pocket and drank the contents.
“No Stop!” But the poison had already begun to take affect. He fell on his face to the ground. With his last breath he whispered something to Abbey, who was kneeling next to him. She looked at his name tag and said a silent prayer for his soul.
“Uh, hey Mina. . .”
“Yeah?”
“We’re standing in a room with a dead guy! AHHHHH!” Mina sighed in disgust and quickly planted their last bomb.
“C’mon! We gotta get outta here! Duo and Heero are probably waiting for us!” Abbey and Mina run back down the hall they came from. Quatre and Doris were still at the door, but Heero and Duo were no where to be seen.
“Where’s Duo and Heero?”
“Haven’t seen them since they left right after you two. You think they might be in trouble or something?”
“Knowing them, they’re up to their ears in trouble. You wanna help me save ‘em Abbey?”
“Sure!”
“What about us? I’m sick of sitting here! My ass is asleep and I came here to see some action!”
“Come if you like Doris, but if you get in my way, well, let’s just say, it won’t be pretty.” Doris stuck her tongue out at Mina the moment her back was turned. “I saw that, I would suggest leaving it in your mouth to prevent it from getting cut off or anything.” Doris stood there for a moment with her tongue hanging out trying to figure out how Mina knew. “Can we get going already, I would like to blow this place up sometime this year you know.” The group made their way down Heero and Duo’s hall easily tracking which way they went by the several unconscious bodies that lined the floor.
“What’s that noise?” Abbey looked around to find the source of a pounding noise.
“I think it’s coming from behind that door.” Quatre went to the door and put his ear against it. “Someone is in there definitely. Should we open it?” Quatre quickly jumped out of the way when Mina pointed her gun at the door and started firing. The door opened to reveal Duo standing inches away from where the bullets were penetrating the door and Heero sitting in the back of the room as if he was waiting for the explosion and his own death.
“How did you two get stuck in there?”
“Well we were minding our own business knocking people out when all of a sudden a girl came up behind us and pushed us in and locked the door. And we couldn’t get out cause the lock was on the outside.”
“Wait, a girl? A civilian girl with brown hair and evil looking eyes?”
“Well it’s not like I have eyes in the back of my head or anything, but I’m pretty sure she was a civilian, and she was about your height.”
“Abbey, what did that dead guy’s name tag say?”
“Commander Bell. Why?”
“Commander Bell, that girl today! I KNEW I HEARD THAT VOICE BEFORE! We have to catch her!” How could I have been so careless as to let her go?! One slip up could mean the end of everything.

After everyone had cleared the base, the bombs were detonated. The South Mizu-iwa Base filled with explosions and was burning brightly. Just then a helicopter flew past them with the civilians in it. “Come back here!!” Mina started firing at it, Duo lowered her hand and shook his head no. “I could of had them! You let them get away! What where you doing?!” I let them getaway the moment they walked out that door and I didn’t stop them when I recognized her voice.
“Don’t be a nut case, there’s no way you could have gotten them. We’ll just have to track them down the hard way, that’s all.”
“OH! The hard way OF COURSE! While we’re at it why don’t we just go looking for a needle in a haystack!” Heero and Abbey sat on a rock watching them fight trying hard not to laugh.
“Why don’t you two stop fighting. There’s no need for it. We should sit down and plan our next move.” Mina and Duo both looked at Quatre like he was crazy.
“Damn it Quatre! Sit the hell down! You always have to break up fights when they’re getting good!” Doris grabbed Quatre by the ear and pulled him away from Mina and Duo. “Now sit right here and be a good pillow while I watch the fight! AND DON”T interrupt again. Okay?”
“But I don’t even know why they’re fighting. It’s so pointless, and it only makes everyone angry.”
“Okay, first of all I TOLD YOU TO SHUT-UP! Second of all, everything is so pointless to you! Why can't you just accept that it's fun to watch people fight sometimes? Third of all, fighting doesn't cause anger, it makes people happy. So sit down, shut-up, and don’t bother me until the fight is finished. Oh damn! You made me miss the best part! Damn it Quatre! You’re so stupid sometimes!” Duo was laying on the ground with a big welt on his cheek. He sat there for a moment holding his hand to his face where Mina’s hand print was. His head stayed lowered but his eyes went up and met with her’s. His lips were pressed tightly together, partially to relieve some pain, but mostly to prevent a wonderful arrangement of swear words.
“Hurt much?” Heero asked Duo.
“Oh, I wouldn’t worry too much about it, that was just one of her love slaps.” Abbey whispered to Heero.
“Sweet holy Mother of Pearl! It’s 11:45! The school’s gate closes at 12:00!”
“Why would we need to go back there? We haven’t completed the mission yet. Besides, it would take an hour or to get there, so why even bother?”
“Yeah that’s right! I don’t need no stinking sleep! Let’s go!” Abbey jumped up from the rock she and Heero were sitting on. Mina looked down at Duo biting her lower lip. Probably shouldn’t of hit you. Bad idea on my part. God, to see you down there like that, I just. . .SNAP out of it! The mission, focus on the mission, patch things up with your ally like a good diplomat and focus on the mission.
“Hey, uh Duo, sorry, I probably shouldn’t of hit you so hard, guess I just didn’t know my own strength huh.” Didn’t know my own strength? What an ass I’m making of myself!
“Uh yeah, I guess I owe you one later. Well what exactly are we supposed to do run after the helicopter and hope that they go slow enough for us to keep up? It’s not like we have any sort of transportation to do this sort of thing.”
“I don’t mind staying here. It would be like a camp out!”
“Doris, you are a camp out. But staying here seems to be our only option. For once you have a good idea.” The girls went out and collected firewood while the guys cleared an area for them to sleep. Everyone sat around the fire, the six of them huddled close together. Without really meaning to everyone fell asleep.

Everyone woke up the next morning to Mina’s high pitched squeal. “Duo! Get your head off of those!” Mina pulled out from underneath Duo holding her chest.
“Oh man, sorry! Sleep does weird things to people ya know.” Duo backed away from Mina blushing.
“Damn it! Why did you have to wake me up! I was having the most wonderful dream! Damn it!” Doris looked around her and saw where she had been sleeping all night and said “Oh wait, never mind, that was no dream.” Quatre blushed and Doris repositioned her head on his stomach. Abbey and Heero were staring at each other not quite sure what to say. The position that they had woken up in wasn’t the most modest one.
“Body heat. It got cold.” Abbey nodded her head to agree.
“Yeah, that’s it, we were using each other’s body heat to stay warm that’s all.”
“Hey, we’d better get back to school before we’re late.” Duo said as he mounded dirt onto the hot coals.
“Oh, good idea, but how are we all going to get back? Mina and I only brought two jet-skis with us. Looks like Doris and Quatre will have to walk back and be late for school. But hey, look on the bright side, you two will be able to take a romantic walk and spend some quality tine together.”
“Hmmm, as much fun as that sounds, I have a really big test to take today, and I really can’t be late. So, why doesn’t someone else stay behind and walk back?”
“No one has to walk anywhere. Follow me.” Mina turned and walked towards the shore where the jet-skis were hidden. She opened a compartment on the back of a jet-ski and pulled out a deflated inner-tube. “Ah, see now someone has to volunteer to get a little wet. And since you’re so full of hot air Doris, you can blow it up.”
“Ha ha, very funny.” Doris grabbed the tube from her and started blowing.
Gliding across the water the two jet-skis towed behind them Mina and Duo on the inner-tubes laughing and giggling each time they almost collided. They arrived at the dock with just enough time to shower off and get back to school.
“Hey, why don’t we all meet up at lunch, grab a bite to eat, it’ll be fun!” Duo suggested as the group was beginning to split six different ways to get to their classes on time. Everyone agreed and continued running to class.
