“Class, I would like you to meet our newest student, Kenji. Please make him feel welcome.” Stupid bastard, I’ll make him feel welcome, that’ll teach him to take my seat. Wait a minute, why am I getting so mad at this guy I don’t even know? It’s not like he took it on purpose just to be mean, he just needed a place to sit. BUT I STILL HATE HIM! There’s just something about him that makes me want to kill him. Mina tried to be as still as possible to limit the amount of noise the desk was giving off. She was fidgety, still, from the unexplainable rage for Kenji.
The British literature teacher looked towards Mina and tapped her pencil on the desk. Her usually pasted on smile faded as she tried to contain her anger. What is this girl on? Why can’t she just stand still? That’s it... As a loud screech came out of Mina’s desk, she slammed her hand on the girl’s book and stood up. “Mina Andrews...Get out of my class!! Now!” Wide-eyed and scared, Mina looked up and gave a shy smile. “Um- I’m sorry Ms. Cosner...” No you’re not! It’s not your fault, stupid! Now stand up and tell this onna what for! The teacher smiled slightly, noticing that this was the perfect time to embarrass the poor girl. With a quick wave of her hand, she pointed at the door and retorted. “I know you are...SO get out of my class room!” Mina tried to control her anger and looked to the back of the room were Heero and Duo were laughing. Her maroon eyes made their way up to the teacher’s face and she coldly shot back “You get out...” with a lopsided grin. Laughter echoed off the walls of the classroom as Ms.Cosner realized the girl’s triumph. She’s not really that bad of a girl...Oh well. She sat back down and sighed. “ You can stay...there’s only 5 minutes left, just don’t do it again.” The bell rang and all of the kids bolted out the classroom. Walking next to the still laughing Duo, Mina closed her eyes and exclaims, “It’s not funny! I could have gotten into deep trouble. Shut your stupid hole and grow up...” with that she gives his braid a enjoyable tug and walks ahead. The wide eyed and dumbfounded Duo was left behind, mumbling to himself. She sure is beautiful when she’s angry..Woah! I can’t believe I just thought that! She’s my ally, my friend, and- Boy, I understand when people say pain is pleasure... Rubbing his head, he looks to the floor at his books. The bell rang and he kicked them and rushed to his next class. Women...sometimes I wonder why I even bother...
Mina walked into the locker room a few minutes after the bell had rung. She slipped in and opened her locker. She laid out her P.E. uniform and got undressed. I hope we’re playing dodge ball or something today, today hasn’t been a good day. Just then another girl who had come in after Mina took the lock off of Mina’s locker and put it on Mina’s uniform. “This is my locker now, you can have the one over there.” And it just keeps getting worse. Standing there in her unmentionables, Mina looked at the girl, immediately recognizing her as the female civilian from the base. Mina reached for a weapon, but remembered that they were in her clothes and, it wouldn’t be the greatest idea to kill someone in the P.E. locker room, or any other public place. “Well, you’d better get dressed, do you need someone to show you the way to your locker?” Mina smiled.
“Thank you so much. You don’t know how much this means to me. I really do appreciate it, you taking that locker and all.”
“WHAT?!” The girl was obviously confused. I am trying to make her loose her cool so she’ll be out of my hair, and she just starts thanking me? What’s the deal?
“You know, that’s the.... one locker....that, well...don’t make me say it, it’s too horrible!”
“You’re fooling, there’s nothing wrong with this locker and you know it.”
“You just keep telling yourself that and maybe you’ll make it through the. . . you know.” Mina walked away with a smirk on her face, then she remembered that she didn’t have a locker anymore and she was standing there in her underwear. This girl is just too much...Now to get changed. After getting changed, Mina went out into the gym and sat next to Duo and Quatre. The P.E. uniform was itchy and a little bit too big for Mina, so when she stood up, she had to automatically grab a hold of her descending shorts. I can’t believe that two-bit clueless brat! She makes me SO angry! Knowing my luck we’ll be playing some wussy game and I’ll end up on her team. Today’s just not my day.... The piercing sound of the Teacher’s whistle shook Mina out of her glare she had on the girl. “Okay now everyone. We’re playing Hockey. I need two team captains...” The tall tom-boy looking teacher scanned the group and stopped directly on Mina. Hockey. My kind of sport. Need-less violence... A perfect excuse for knocking someone out of the game... “You and...Hayley. Now pick your teams. The tools are in the cabinet, you know what to do.” Mina conniving a serious battle plan, walked up to the front of the room and took her place next to Hayley. “I pick...” Hey! What is she doing? I pick first! Calm down, you are beginning to act like a little kid.
“I AM a little kid...” Realizing she just said that out loud, Mina quickly covered her mouth, her eyes wide. Only the laugh of Duo and Quatre was noticeable, the rest of the class was looking directly at her. “Duo. I’ll pick Duo.” Hayley smiled in her accomplishment of making Mina turn red and stutter. Mina was just about choking on her defeat, as the utterly confused Duo walked over to Hayley. She just picked Duo! MY Duo! I can’t believe this is happening to me...Okay you wanna play like that? How’s this?! “I pick Quatre.” She froze in discomposure as Quatre walked happily over to her. Oh no...can’t this class just end now? I give up...
After the teams were chosen, what would forever be known as the “Mizu-iwa incident” was about to take place. The score was just about as uneven as it could get and Mina and Duo were facing off. With the usual smirk on her face, Mina watched as Duo was plotting his next move. Just call it a game, Duo...I win and you loose, as usual! This kid just won’t give up...Okay, I’ll teach you a lesson! With that, the spunky girl hit the puck and made her way to the goal. Numbed with anger, Duo growled to himself and ran after her. No way is that little brat going to get away with this..... He dashed over to her and tried to knock her over, but with no luck. The goal was made and the game was over. Basking in her obvious victory, Mina turned her back to Duo, and began to trot off. Okay now this day is getting a bit better! Not only did I manage to knock that girl into a wall four times, I beat the crap out of Duo, the so called king of all games! What a day...
“Great game, Duo!” Quatre smiled and patted him on the shoulder, only to receive one of the many punches in the stomach from the frustrated Duo. Quatre staggered off in Doris’s direction and left the two competitors on the court. Duo’s eyes narrowed on Mina, who was talking to Sean. She’s good, that I must admit. But there’s one thing I’m even better at: Revenge. She’s over there laughing it up with her buddy Sean, what a show off. She needs a taste of her own medicine... He began creeping up behind Mina with a devilish grin on his face. “Duo? Oh, he’s probably off on the locker room throwing a hissy fit!” Mina smiled and scratched her head. I bet Duo’s going to be angry at me for the rest of my life...oh well! At least I impressed Sean... As Mina was still gloating about her victory to Sean, Duo crept up behind her and grasped each side of her baggy shorts then pulled as hard and as fast as he could, leaving Mina with her shorts around her ankles. Duo ran away yelling to call everyone’s attention to Mina’s predicament. After Mina got over the initial shock, she yanked up her shorts and ran after Duo yelling death threats as she went. She caught up with him and tackled him to the floor. She pinned his chest and arms with her legs and turned to his shorts. Mina held the struggling Duo down as she slipped off his shorts. She leapt off him and twirled the shorts around her finger. “Nice undies Duo! Spiderman, good choice, I would have went with Batman personally, but hey, if you go for that kind of thing!” Mina shouted obviously loud to direct everyone’s attention to Duo. “That’ll teach you to mess with me. You can have your shorts back after you get them down from the flagpole.” Mina walked triumphantly to the locker room swinging the shorts behind her. Anything you can do I can do better, I can do anything better than you, No you can’t Yes I can!
I can’t believe this is only third hour! Is this day ever going to end?! School takes up too much precious time that a kid could be using to do some mass destruction. Mina continued to staple tests and reminding herself she could sit through the rest of school. “Mina,” Her thought were interrupted by the teacher, Mr. Brecht. “I’m stepping out for a while, watch the class for me.” Mina nodded and Mr. Brecht walked out of the chemistry room. A few minutes later, a familiar voice interrupted Mina’s thought’s again. “Are you listening? Anybody home?” Mina swatted the Hayley’s hand away from her face.
“Yeah what do you want? I’m busy.”
“Sure you are. Anyway Mr. Brecht told me he wanted me to finish grading those papers, so give them to me.” Mina leaned back in her chair and put her hands behind her head, grasping a knife hidden in her hair.
“What if I don’t?” Mina tightened her grip on the knife.
“I suggest you do, or else something in the way of study hall this hour might come your way.”
“How do you know I don’t like study hall?”
“I can tell by the way you act. Now give me those papers, or I go to the office and have Mr. Brecht paged.”
She’s bluffing, I think, what if she’s not? I really don’t want to have to sit in study hall for a whole period. This chick is totally out to get me! Doesn’t she have her own work to do? Wow I’ve been thinking for a long time, that would explain the look on her face. Uh quick make a decision! “Whatever, take the papers, I don’t care, less work for me.” Hayley smiled and took the papers.
“You’ll thank me for this later Mina.” She said as she walked out the door. What’s that supposed to mean? I’ve got a bad feeling about this. Mina got up to retrieve the papers from Hayley, but she was cut short by Mr. Brecht.
“Miss Andrews! Are you trying to ditch my class?!”
“No, I was just going. . .”
“I don’t care if you were going to save the president! You don’t leave the classroom with out permission! Besides, aren’t you supposed to be grading those papers I asked you to grade yesterday?” Mina looked at him with a puzzled look.
“But, Hayley, you said, she, took them away, tried uh...”
“Who’s Hayley? She’s not responsible for the papers you are!”
“That’s what she meant! What a b. . .”
“That is IT! I’ve had it with your sassy mouth! Go to the counselor’s office and because you have a study hall now.” Mina opened her mouth to speak, but thought better of it. She spent the rest of third and fourth hour sitting in the counselor’s office getting her schedule changed. Well at least I got out of geometry, and now it’s time for lunch! I swear, the next chance I get I’m going to waste Hayley.
As Mina walked out the front doors to find the rest of the group, she heard her name being called. She turned and let out a silent yell. Hayley was walking up to Mina with the biggest shit-eating grin she had every seen. “Well, are you going to thank me? I’m waiting.”
“You’re doing this to me on purpose! You are so lucky there are all these people here because I’m going to give you what you deserve, and then you’ll be thanking me from hell.” As Mina turned around her braid snapped Hayley in the face.
“Hey Mina! Where ya been?” Mina looked up relieved to see everyone waving for her to come over. She walked under the tree where everyone was sitting and plopped down on the ground. “We were looking all over for you! Why weren’t you in geometry? Is it ‘cause you were scared that I was going to get you back for taking my shorts and leaving me there?”
“No I had to sit in the counselor’s office.” Mina said angrily.
“Well, excuse me for asking!” Duo turned around and crossed his arms.
“Hey, why don’t you guys go save us a spot in line at McDonald’s? We’ll be along in a minute.” Duo was about to object, but Abbey cut him off with a look that said “do as I say or die”. So he shut his mouth and followed Doris, Heero, Sean, and Quatre to McDonald’s. “What’s wrong Mina? You’re not acting like yourself.”
“Abbey, you don’t even know how bad my day has been. First this new kid named Kenji takes my seat and I have to sit in the squeaky one and for some strange reason, I just really, really hate him. So Then the teacher started making fun of me, and everyone was laughing. Oh my God, then in P.E., Hayley. . .”
“Who’s Hayley?”
“She’s the girl from the base last night.”
“Oh, that one.”
“Anyways, she’s in my P.E. class and she stole my locker! Right out from underneath my nose, and I LET HER! Then Duo de-pants me. . .” Well, that wasn’t so bad, it gave me an excuse to tackle. . .
“Hey Mina, you kinda just stopped in mid-sentence there.”
“Oh, sorry. So anyways, then I get into third hour doing my job stapling tests and grading papers, when Hayley comes in and tells me that Mr. Brecht wants her to grade the papers so I let her take them. Then I got yelled at because the bitch tricked ME! Mr. Brecht doesn’t even know who she is! And I just saw her as I was coming out here and she knows how to push each and every one of my buttons.”
“I’m sorry Mina, but I think I have some good news for you. We were just talking about what we were going to do tonight, and seeing how it’s Friday, we have all night and all weekend to do some major mass destruction! Plus Hayley will probably be there doing something and then you can totally waste her.”
“Well, I guess that sounds okay. But it would sound a lot better if I had an ice cream in my hand.” Mina half assedly smiled.
“Okay, let’s catchup to the guys, and you can get an ice cream.” They both started walking to McDonald’s.
Heero, Duo, Quatre, Sean, and Doris were next in line as Abbey and Mina walked in. They all ordered and sat down with their food. Abbey took one of the crayons for little kids and started writing on a napkin about Hayley and her evilness. She passed it to Doris who read it and then passed it to Quatre. Instead of reading it Quatre used it to wipe his mouth. Doris elbowed him in the stomach. “Quatre! Are you stupid or is it just dumb in here?!” Quatre looked around obviously confused. Doris grabbed the napkin from him and showed him the message written on it.
“Oh!, sorry!” He read the note and then said quite loudly, “Really! That girl from the OZ ba-. . .” Doris stuffed Quatre’s whole burger into his mouth. “Ank yuuu Oris.” He said as burger parts fell out of his mouth. The note was passed to Heero and Duo who both read it and looked over to the sulking Mina. She was sitting there staring into her plate and cursing to her self. Her cheeks were a bright red and her bangs were let down on her face. Snapping out of it she quickly sat up, grabbed her hat ,threw her garbage away and stormed out the door. That girl really must make her angry...I haven’t seen her like this before. Not that I don’t like the fact that I have an excuse to go follow her out side... Duo crammed the rest of his burger in his mouth and went to go follow Mina. The others looked at each other, expecting Duo to take time to figure out if going out there really was going to be his death, and mumbled to them selves. “I don’t know if we should just let him go out there and get verbally bashed by our dear little Mina, she seems pretty stoked.” Abbey began to get up and was quickly stopped by Heero. “No... you should leave those two alone...Duo knows how to handle it.”
I can’t believe I’m letting this girl get to me! I’m becoming weak... If my brother were here, he’d be disappointed in me. I can’t be a help to these guys if I let every little thing get to me. Mina sat underneath one of the cherry-blossom trees and pulled her hat off. Her hair was falling all around her, as she grabbed a silver locket from underneath her shirt. Sighing in relief, she opened it and what seemed like a tear began to form in her cold and angry eyes. No...not here. Solo, please give me strength... She quickly wiped the little tear away when she noticed Duo walking to her. How do I explain crying to Him? It’s not like he cries....Okay...turn on the anti social... Mina pulled her hat on her head and pulled the bill over her eyes.
“You don’t need to go actin’ like you’re a bad ass, Mina. I want to know what’s really bothering you...” Duo walked over to Mina and sat next to her. Wow this is the closest I’ve ever been to her in which she’s not trying to cause me any bodily harm...weird. He put his hand up to her hat and pulled it off cautiously, letting her long hair fall around her. In shock, Mina pulled back, only to have her back up closer to the tree. Too close! Woah! Way too close!! I might as well tell him what’s bothering me... In a sense of defeat, she looked at Duo who was smiling and waiting for her answer intently. “Uh-I....” He snapped her hat out of her reach just as she tried grabbing it. “You what? What’s been bothering you?” She let out a sigh and looked the other way. “It’s just that this girl is bothering me and for some odd reason, I’m actually hesitant of killing her. I’m getting paid for what I do and I usually don’t hesitate about anything...” Mina balled up her fist and punched the ground, growling in frustration. “I just can’t believe I’m actually telling you this....I’m just so angry I can’t control my self! I’m so sorry about P.E., I wasn’t thinking. And I’m sorry for all of the other mean things I’ve done to you in the past...” Her eyes began to swell with tears as she was fighting for the right words.”I-I’m just SORRY!” With that, she quickly got up and ran to the school.
Mina walked through the groups of kids sitting under the trees and was stopped short by a loud and angry voice. “Hey! Do you really have to go stepping on my Zoology homework? If that’s your job, you are doing a pretty darn good job at doing so...” The tall boy looked up to Mina and pulled the books out from under her feet, causing her to land on her butt.”You-“ She looked at him and noticed a strange resemblance to someone she knew. “So. Just who in the heck do you think you are?” Mina looked at the obviously angry boy and tried to fight back tears. “I-I-I...”
“You what?! What do you have to say for your self?! You are a little-“ His tear evoking speech was cut short by none other than Abbey. She stormed over to the boy and slapped him on the back of the head. “Adam! Knock it off! You treat this girl like a lady...or else!!!” The boy quickly narrowed his eyes and punched at Abbey. Diving in the way for some odd reason, Mina took full force of the blow and fell to the ground. That felt kinda good....Mina: 1 Abbey:0... Kneeling down beside Mina, Abbey looked at Adam with her jaw hanging.
“What did I just tell you?!”
“Hey! It’s not my fault this chick is crazy and decided to dive in the way!”
“Mina! Why did you have to do that? He wasn’t really going to hit me!”
“I know Abbers, I guess it was just reflexes or something.” Abbey punched Adam in the gut hard, knocking the air out of him. Mina stood up holding her arm. “I think I’ll stay home for the rest of lunch, and if I’m feeling better, I’ll come back to school.”
“You want some company? Or anything?”
“No. Please, I just need some time to myself.” Mina walked away.
Mina plopped herself down on her bed and looked up at the ceiling. You have to get through this by tonight. No use going in to blow things up and you’re all mushy emotional over some stupid girl. What was Duo doing today anyway? I’m glad I got out of there when I did, or else some things might have happened that I would have regretted. Okay Mina, breathe. That’s it take deep soothing breaths. HEY! I know I think I’ll take Little out and play with him for a while. Mina went to Little’s cage and took him out. She petted him and he ran up her arm and sat on her shoulder. “So Little, what do we have in the way of comfort foods here?” Mina went to the fridge and looked inside. “Nothing! I feel like Old Mother Hubbard. Oi, look at the time, I’d better get back to school.” Mina walked out the door with Little still on her shoulder. She walked back into the room and put Little back in his cage, and then went to school.
As Mina walked into the school she was greeted with a flyer in her face. “Hi. I’m the president of the choir club. Do you want to join choir?” A strawberry blonde girl said in the most monotone voice you ever did hear.
“No, I really have to get to class.”
“Well then just take a flyer to make it look like I did some work. By the way, aren’t you new here?”
“Yeah. . .”
“Oh, well my name is Pepper, and that is my boyfriend Jerry.” The boy she pointed to waved his hand. “Well I guess I should welcome you to Miz-iwa or something.”
“No, really that’s okay, I really do have to go to class.” Mina slowly backed away from Pepper and went to class. Mina took her seat in Shakespeare class between Heero and Duo.
“Feeling better?” Mina looked at Duo and was about to reply when the teacher began her lecture.
“I can’t wait until tonight. We’ve got to hurry up and get home so that we can plan it out.” Mina leaned over and whispered to Abbey.
“And NO going out any windows this time.”
“I can’t promise anything Abbey, if the mission requires us to fly out a window, then we’re flying out a window, and I don’t want to hear another word about it.” The teacher looked up to see who was talking and fixed her eyes on Mina.
“Mina! If I hear another word out of you, you’ll be playing Juliet when we act out the play!”
“Sorry Mrs. Caruso.” Eww! I don’t want to have to play Juliet! What if Romeo is that one guy that I saw at the base with Hayley last night. What is his name? I know what it is, Bob, Sam, Wink, Victor, Vince? Yeah it was Vince. Talk about sleeping with the enemy.
Abbey smiled as she got an idea. Mina doesn’t know that Duo is Romeo. So I think I’ll give her a little present. Abbey tore her paper into pieces and balled them up. She threw them at the back of Mina’s head, hitting her target every time.
What the hell is Abbey doing? Wasn’t she listening to what the teacher just said? Does she want to die? OUCH! That one was hard! Just ignore it Mina, keep your cool, you don’t want to have to kiss Vince or anybody else in here. Realizing that Mina wasn’t going to give up so easily, Abbey pulled Mina’s braid as hard as she could. “OW! Abbey!” Mina quickly clamped her hands over her mouth.
“That’s it Mina, you’re playing Juliet whether you like it or not.” Mina turned red and put her head down on her desk. Abbey, you’re going to get it just you wait.
“Abbey, you want to sleep with Little tonight don’t you?”
“Really Mina, I think you should be thanking me.”
“ME! Thank you! I don’t think so.”
“Oh, but I think you should. . .”
“I’m not talking to you ever again.”
“But Mina. . .”
“Shut-up.”
“No Mina. . .”
“Shut-up.”
“MINA!” Mina covered her ears and started chanting.
“I’m not listening. I’m not listening. I’m not listening.” Abbey gave up trying to tell Mina who Romeo was. She looked over to Duo feeling the need to tease him about it as well. She decided better of it when she saw the taunting he was getting from Heero.
After the bell had rung, the class rushed out the door. Abbey tried to catch up to Mina, but was delayed by the huge crowd of people. I hope Mina doesn’t stay mad at me forever. She can’t! Especially once she finds out Duo is Romeo! I am such a genius! Mina walked quickly down the hall still plotting Abbey’s demise. “Hey Mina!” Mina looked up and saw Doris waving at her. “I was wondering if you knew where Quatre was? He was supposed to meet me after school and. . .”
“Oh shove a sock in it!” Everyone who was standing in the hall stopped and looked at Mina and the stunned Doris. “Quatre this and Quatre that! GACK!” Mina kept walking leaving Doris with her jaw to the floor wondering what exactly gack meant. Geez all day long I’ve been having a bad day and Abbey knows it, so she goes and pulls this stunt! How rude! Oh my gosh... I just realized that I totally embarrassed Doris in front of the whole school practically. She’ll get over it she won’t even remember we talked tomorrow, after what’s going to happen tonight. Mina went to unlock the door to her room, but found it was already open. She looked in and saw Abbey playing a video game. “Abbey, how did you get home before me? I came straight here, and I didn’t see you pass me.”
“Oh well, the great Mina has decided to talk to me again?”
“Whatever.”
“For your information Chris Fredrick gave me a ride home.”
“Isn’t that Amy’s little brother?”
“Yup.”
“If he’s Amy’s younger brother, then how can he drive?”
“That’s the beauty of it. His hobby is car-jacking, but he only takes the car for an hour or two, and the owner’s only loss is gas and a few more miles on their car. He’ll be here soon, he’s going to help us on the mission tonight.” Mina dropped her books and looked sharply at Abbey.
“You told a stranger about the mission?!! How could you! He’s probably an OZ spy or something! We have to get out of here, and we’ve got to warn Heero and Duo.”
“Mina! Calm down! I’ve known Amy and Chris for a long time, and they’re no spies! Why don’t you sit down and play a video game with me?”
“Yeah I am overreacting, I think I will play a video game with you Abbey.” Abbey sighed in relief and held out a control pad for Mina. Mina kicked the controller in the air, caught it and wrapped it around Abbey’s neck. “I should kill you now. But I think I’ll be needing you to get Chris off of our tail.” Mina released the controller and Abbey rubbed her neck.
“What is it with you and my neck?" Just then, someone knocked on the door. Mina quickly sat down as she picked up a controler.
"If it's Chris, get rid of him and fast. Come in!" The door opened slightly and Duo peered in.
"Hey! You two wanna come over for a while before we go out tonight? We made Onigiri..."
"Mmm, Onigiri, that's my favorite! You coming Mina?" Mina looked at Abbey and nodded her head.
" Rice Balls-Shrice Balls! I don't want no stinkin' rice balls. Well...Uh yeah, you go ahead. I'll be over in a minute." Mina could hear Abbey and Duo walking down the hall. She leaned her head back and took a deep breath. I have to make it through the mission. This weekend is going to be extremely important and if I want to make it through alive, I can't be distracted in any way. Hey, those Onigiri are stating to smell reeally good right about now. No use going on a mission with and empty stomach!
"Hey Heero how do you like your Onigiri? Browned, or really crispy?" Duo held the spatula in his hand as he asked. Abbey was sitting at the table licking her fingers.
"If Heero doesn't want his I'll eat it! Those were really good!" Duo smiled at the compliment. Mina walked in the door and sat down next to Abbey.
"So nice of you to join us, we were begining think you didn't like us or something." Mina just looked at Duo like *whatever*. Heero handed her a plate with Onigiri. Mina smiled and took the plate.
"Knock knock! Anybody home?" Doris opened the door to Heero and Duo's room. "Do I smell Onigiri cooking?"
"Yeah, you want some?" Doris gave Duo a look of disgust. "Hey! Abbey just told me my cooking was good! Don't go knocking it until you've tried it!"
