All out brawl
Mina’s face lit up as they passed a comic book store on their way to the boxing club. “Oh PLEASE! Can’t I just look? It’ll only be a minute, and Sean wants to go too. Don’t ya Sean?” Everyone’ attention turned to Sean.
“Well, uh yeah, they’re supposed to have the new magic decks in.”
“Okay! Let’s go!” Mina bolted into the store leaving the others in her wake. They followed Mina in, looking around for her, they spotted her sitting on the floor reading a comic. Sean headed for the Magic cards.
“Oi! Noah! Long time no see!” Sean waved to the tall geeky boy he called Noah.
“Hey Sean! Check this out!” Noah held up a deck of cards. “Diseased vermin...”
“That’s so cool! Are those the new decks?”
“Yup, and I’m the first one to own them. So what brings you here, with them?” Noah eyed the group Sean came in with; a blonde boy laying beside a pink-haired girl who was reading him a children’s book. The other three were flipping nonchalantly through some magazines. Two girls and a boy, or two boys and a girl? With that braid, it’s hard to tell...
“We were on our way to the boxing club next door. Hey, why don’t you come with us?”
“Alright, let’s go! Uh, you sure it’s okay with your friends?”
“Oh yeah, they’re cool. I’ll go see if Mina’s ready.” Noah followed Sean to a girl sitting on the floor reading a comic.
“NO! Don’t open that door! Look out!! Don’t do that!! Oh no, oh no! Anything but that!!” Mina held the comic tightly as her eyes widened.
“What? What’d they do?!” Sean leaned over to look. Mina pulled the comic back hiding the pictures against her chest.
“Read it yourself.” Mina closed the comic book and returned it to the shelf. “Are we ready to go now?” Abbey scowled at Mina.
“It was your idea to come here.” Everyone gathered at the door poised to leave.
“Everyone this is Noah.” Noah waved his hand and smiled.
“Hiya!” All the introductions were made and with one more added to the ranks, they entered the boxing club.
The air was heavy with smoke and the smell of sweat. Doris clung to Quatre and vice versa. There was a gleam in Mina and Duo’s eyes as they watched two tall, lanky boys duking it out. Their gloved arms flailing at each other. A sea of whoops were let out every time a good hit was made. The same gleam was in Mina’s eyes as she turned to Doris. “Hey Doris, you wanna go for it?” Doris clenched Quatre a little tighter. A look of complete fear overwhelmed her face.
“Uh, well you see...”
“What’s wrong? Ya chicken?” The look of fear turned to one of insult.
“No!”
“Then why don’t you fight me?”
“Well...I guess I could, if it’s just for fun...”
“I’ll go sign us up then!”
“Matte! Uh, I’ll fight with you on two conditions. One, Quatre fights with someone. Two, you promise not to hurt me really bad.” Quatre looked shocked, Mina puter head down and sighed, then mumbled something about never gonna get in the ring this way.
“I couldn’t fight, you’re all my friends...besides, it’s so pointless...” Quatre started backing to the door. Duo grabbed him from behind and pushed him back to where he was standing.
“I’ll fight ya Quatre! C’mon, it’s all in good fun! If Doris can do it I’m sure you can!”
“I don’t know wether to take that as a compliment or an insult.”
Mina bounced over to the sign up sheet glad that Quatre had agreed to fight. Noah had found someone to fight with too. A big kid about his size. Too bad Heero and Abbey decided no to fight... Duo and Quatre were called up first. They slipped on the gloves handed to them. Quatre looked uneasily at his friends as Duo smiled and waved his arms over his head. Mina was cheering them both on loudly. They met in the middle of the ring, Quatre sensing Duo’s eagerness. “Please Duo, go easy on me. I don’t want to look like a total fool.” Duo kept smiling and started cirling around Quatre. “When this is over, I want us to still be friends.”
“C’mon Quatre!! Hit him! He’s practically just standing there!! What are you thinking?!!” Quatre looked out to see Doris standing on her chair yelling at him, as usual. Mina had pretended to fall asleep while Abbey jabbed at her ribs. Heero sat calmly, arms crossed staring at, Abbey? Quatre shook his head and focused on Duo. He took a deep breath and swung, making contact with the outside of Duo’s arm. Duo couldn’t help but laugh.
“What was that? Quatre man, you hit like a girl!” ‘Boos’ were beginning to emerge from the crowd. “I guess I’d better get this thing started before we get rotten fruit thrown at...” Before Duo could finish Quatre jabbed him in the chin. “Quatre! You hit me!”
“Oh Duo, I’m sorry, uh...”
“It’s about time!” As Quatre looked up from the floor, Duo threw a punch into his ribs. Quatre hunched over, then thrust a glove between Duo’s, separating them. He used his free hand to hit Duo in the stomach. Duo brought his parted arms down on Quatre’s shoulders. Before he could retaliate, Duo uppercut him. Quatre flew back and landed on the groung, hard. Duo got ready for Quatre to come running at him, but he just laid there. “Quatre... you okay?” Dou’s arms dangled at his sides as he went to Quatre. He kneeled down next to him...he didn’t look so good. Just then, Quatre’s eyes shot open and a wide smile appeared on his face. Duo tried to pull back, but was cut short by Quatre’s right glove across his face. Duo was knocked on his back, surprised that Quatre could hit that hard. A bell rang, signifying that their time was up.
“Oh my God, Quatre! Are you okay? Oh, I shouldn’t have let you fight.” Doris rushed over to his side.
“I’m fine, just a little sore. Now stop fussing.” Duo walked over rubbing his jaw.
“Hey Quatre!”
“Yeah Duo?”A sharp pain rang up through Quatre’s arm as Duo punched him.
“Now we’re even.”
Doris and Mina were called next. They put on their gloves and met in the middle of the ring. “Now Mina..I want you to remember this is a FRIENDLY match. You’ve already kicked me in the stomach once. Hey! Isn’t that Abbey’s brother?” Mina looked over, and Doris took full advantage of the situation by clocking Mina across the face. Min looked back at Doris, threw off each of her gloves, and pounced on Doris. They landed on the ground together, Mina clamping Doris down with her knees. “Mina! I’m sorry! I didn’t think it would work!” Mina let loose and started beating Doris’s ribs.
Abbey glared at Adam. “What are you doing here?”
“I was in the neighborhood, and figured I’d stop by. Isn’t that Mina beating the piss out of somebody in the ring?”
“Yeah, but I don’t know why that would be any of your concern after what you did to her.” Sean leaned in a little closer to hear the conversation better.
“Well, I would think that after almost seeing someone naked, things like this would become my business.” Sean was becoming more and more agitated with every word that came out of Adam’s mouth. “And who is that trying to pull her off?”
“Never mind Quatre...What’s this about Mina and being naked?”
“Oh yeah, she was running all over with just a towel, and it got pulled off somehow, SO I thought it would only be nice to alert all the residents of the naked-as-a-jaybird-visitor.” Abbey’s jaw hung.
“Didn’t you learn your lesson last time you messed with her?” Abbey drew back to punch Adam, but her fist was help back by Sean.
“What’s your name?” Adam looked confused at Sean.
“Ada-....”
“I don’t really care what your name is, you’re just retard to me. You’ve been messing with the wrong girl, and I’m here to make sure you don’t do it any more.”
“What are you going to do about it?”
“Why don’t we straighten this out in the ring?” Retard er- Adam agreed and signed Sean and himself to go next.
“I know this is going to sting a little, but it’s for your own good.” Quatre applied a wet rag to the bleeding parts of Doris’s face.
“OW!! OW OW!!” Doris tried to pull away, but the rag stayed on her face.
“Mina! How could you do this to her?! I thought you promised not to hurt her before you went in the ring!”
“I promised not to hurt her too badly.”
“What exactly do you call this?!” Mina rolled her eyes.
“Well she’s not dead, or mortally wounded, I would say that’s not hurting her too badly.” Mina looked at the fight commencing in the ring. “Is that Sean? What’s he doing in the ring, with Adam?”
“I wouldn’t know. I was busy keeping you from killing poor Doris! Abbey might know she was there when they had the conversation.” Mina flicked her braid and walked over to Abbey.
“Hey Abbers, what’s Sean doing in the ring with your brother?”
“Well, Adam was bragging about him almost seeing you naked, and Sean got really upset and challenged him to a match. They were so eager to fight, they got Noah to let them use his place.” Well, it’s a good thing Duo wasn’t there...If he took out all those boys at once last time, I can only imagine what he’d do to Adam...but if he wasn’t there, where was he? And where is he now? Mina looked around.
“Abbey, where’s Duo?”
“He went to go get a drink, he’s been in line since he got done with Quatre.”
Sean faked left and hit Adam with his right. Both boys ready to attack each other, waiting for an opening. Adam dodged an incoming punch from Sean and hit Sean in the ribs. Sean gasped for air as he hunched over. Adam began punching Sean’s head. “Baka yaro!!” Adam looked up to see Mina flying at him. Her feet landed firmly in his chest, she stood between him and Sean.
“Hey! Stay out of this! He challenged me to this fight, and I’m winning!”
“Mina?” Sean looked up at her, one eye swollen shut.
“Don’t worry Sean, I’m here! I’ll take care of this guy. You go sit next to Doris and Quatre will fix you up in a jiffy!” A referee blew his whistle and stepped into the ring.
“This fight is over! Every one out of the ring.” Mina glared at the official as she stepped out of the ring.
“Hey, that’s not fair, he didn’t call the fight when Mina was beating the crap out of me.”
“That’s because he was standing in that line from hell with me.” Duo walked with a full cup of soda in his hands.
“Oh, well that makes me feel SO much better. A drink was more important than my life.”
“He was going to come stop it but Quatre was there, and I’m sure you liked being saved by him more than if the referee would have.”
“OW!! OW OW!!” Sean squirmed under the wet rag that was on his face. Quatre held it firmly in place. “Get this thing off me! I’m missing Noah’s fight!” Sean slapped Quatre’s hand away and threw off the rag. Noah and Frank were mercilessly punching each other. Unknowingly making their way to the ringside where they hit each other so hard, they fell out of the ring and kept fighting. Frank threw a hard right at Noah, but he ducked. Mina felt the full force of Frank’s offense. “Oh that is SO messed up!”
“Sean! Are you going to let this guy hit your girlfriend and get away with it?” Sean stood by Noah and began assaulting Frank. The referee came running up to stop the fight blowing his whistle. Mina stood up and punched the referee, forcing his whistle into his mouth.
“Quit it already with the freakin’ whistle!!” An all out brawl began between everyone in the boxing club. Abbey and Heero had already slipped out the door and were waiting patiently for the fight to get over. Mina had already taken out the referee, and two other rather large men, and had spotted Adam standing motionless in the middle of the brawlers. “Your balls are the size of raisinettes!!” Mina dashed over to him, avoiding other fights on her way. She grabbed him by his shirt collar and began punching him in the face. She stopped when she heard a crash and Doris screaming. Quatre was helping her out, when someone hit her with a chair in her back. Mina looked back at Adam. “You stay here, I’m not finished with you.” She turned to the person who threw the chair. “You! How dare you hurt my friend!” Mina clobbered the rowdy brawler with a few bounds. “Quatre! What are you waiting for get her out of here!”
Mina, Noah, Sean, and Duo were the only ones left standing after the horrible fight. Mina slung Adam over her shoulder and started for the door. “Well, are you guys going to stand there all day or what?” The three boys were panting, surprised that Mina wasn’t the least bit tired. In fact, she seemed to have more energy than before... They waltzed out of the boxing club like nothing happened.
“I didn’t think you were ever going to get out of there.” Abbey stood up off the curb. “I see you’ve taken care of Adam for me..” Mina turned around so Adam was facing Abbey.
“He has something he wants to say to you.” Adam’s bruised face looked up.
“Abbey, I’m sorry. I’m a terrible person, I know I’ve done some bad things...goodnight mommy.” Adam passed out still hunched over Mina’s shoulder.
“Well, what do you guys want to do now?”
“I think we should go out for ice cream. I know of a little place just down a way.”
“Abbey, what about your brother?”
“I’m not taking him home. I don’t think anyone else wants to take him home.” Everyone shook their head no. “Doris and Quatre already went home, so just bring him.”
“He doesn’t look like he’s sleeping! Who sleeps when they’re in an ice cream shop?”
“Keep it down Duo! We’ve got to make this look natural. Here, put his ice cream in his hand, like that.”
“Oh yeah Mina, that looks natural, a kid in an ice cream shop sleeping with an ice cream in his hand.”
“You’re not helping.. Well, maybe if we make him eat a bit of it...” Mina took Adam’s hand and mushed the ice cream against his mouth. She couldn’t help but laugh. Serves him right.
